Fuzz Free

Part of saving money and being stylish, is not having to throw away clothes due to pilling and fuzzies. I use a sweater shaver on all my sweaters and items that pill. It will save you so much money in the long run. This is the type I use, but there are so many types, just pick what you like.

Here is a video of me showing how it works: Demo Video
How do you take care of your sweaters and other items that pill? Do you use a sweater shaver? Let me know in the comments. Peldyn

Mending Things

I had found a super cute skirt on eBay that was the exact skirt in a board from Pinterest.

I bid on it and won. The seller then messaged me to let me know that she found a couple holes and did I want to cancel. I said no, because I had plans… bwahahaha!

This is the skirt after I embroidered over the holes. So cute!

Would you have cancelled the purchase?
I am trying to make do and repair so this was a way for me to keep something out of the landfill.
This is one outfit I have planned so far

What do you think?

I’m a Classic Girl, In a Trendy World

Trendy clothes are so much fun and I love them when I see other people wearing them. Me, not so much. Every time I try something trendy, it ends up in the donation box. I just don’t feel comfortable.
Right now I am loving JCPenney(on my no buy now that I found out they donated to Trump), Old Navy/The Gap for inexpensive classics. All Winter is on clearance so it is the time to buy for next year. I am especially in love with cable knit sweaters. I just can’t get enough!

Are you Trendy, Classic, Romantic, Gothic or something else? Do you stick to one style or do you mix it up? Let me know!

Flapper? I Barely Know Her!

I am playing a part in a murder mystery play. While I am trying to make my dress, I went ahead and ordered one from Unique Vintage just in case I don’t have it done in time.

I have the shoes and a cute wig, so I am pretty much set.
I am so excited as this may be the only play I am in this year. With my sister in laws health being bad, I need to be available to help her.

Color Coordination

The skirt I dyed a few weeks ago is such a good match for my green shoes. Today feels like Spring and I am taking advantage of it. Short sleeved shirts, kicky skirts, cute flats. I hope the nice weather sticks around.

How is the weather in your neck of the woods? Are you ready to bust out your warm weather clothing?

Tea and Fabric

I had to resort to ordering fabric online for a shirt I am making for my Agatha Harkness cosplay. I hated not being able to feel the fabric. Ordering a sample was too pricey as I only needed 2 yards for the shirt. Upon opening the package I could tell the fabric is a bit more crisp than I would like. I am hoping it is only the sizing and a good wash in hot water will cure that. I need to tea dye part of the fabric as the shirt is two toned.

In other news, all the Joann Fabrics around me are either closed or will close soon. The only option for me will be buying fabric online and I hate that.
Are your Joann’s stores closing? What are your options for fabric shopping? Do you like being able to see and touch the fabric you buy in person?

No Buy Day

Looks like a national NO BUY day will be Feb. 28th.
I am trying to be more mindful of where I purchase from as well. More small businesses and as local as I can.

Will you be participating? Have you made a pledge to buy more from small businesses? Let me know in the comments.

Seasons Change

Now is a good time to buy cold weather staples. Many store have them up on clearance. Anthropologie has many nice tops, sweaters, and layering pieces on sale. Sizes are getting limited so I had to order one top in a large. I will take it in. The style is simple so it will be easy.

Will you be buying any basics on clearance or will you be looking for something more fun? Let me know in the comments.

Transitional Clothes

The weather here is already getting warmer. Spring will be here before you know it. I added a few items to my wardrobe that can be pared down for mild days and added to for cooler evenings. (I may make a small commission off of affiliate links)
Allegra K Blouse

Blouse from Amazon can be worn as is, or have a cardigan or sweater popped on top for warmth.

This skirt from JCPenney is a great weight for transitional seasons. I overdyed it to make it a couple shades darker. For me, the green was a bit too bright. It turned out so well!

Reef Sweater Vest

I ordered this sweater vest from Poshmark. It can be wore over a camisole or tee and for cooler days layered over a long sleeve top.
What are your go-to transitional items? Do you layer?
Let me know what you think.

Capsule Wardrobe Planning

Working on a capsule wardrobe for my European trip in late May, early June. I will be gone three weeks. I keep wanting to add more items, but I really do have enough. As part of the trip will be me just stumbling around by train, I need to be able to easily transport from train to hostel.
